Bands, Ensembles, Choirs

Slough Youth Orchestra:

Open to all musicians playing woodwind, brass, strings or percussion family instruments.

Performing music from a range of orchestral repertoire, including classical-inspired works, to modern film music and classic films of the 20th century, as well as popular and jazz styles.

Grade 4+ or equivalent playing standard (no formal exams need to have been taken).

Slough Training Orchestra:

Open to all musicians playing woodwind, brass, strings or percussion family instruments, as well as the SoundBeam. Please ask for more info.

Exploring an introduction to the world of orchestra through fun, accessible, varied genres of music.

Grade 1-3+ standard or equivalent (no formal exams need to have been taken).

Directed by Claudio Di Meo on a project-by-project basis! Get in touch for more info.


Slough Beginners’ Mixed Ensemble:
Open to all musicians playing woodwind, brass, strings or percussion family instruments.

Pre-Grade 1 standard players welcome.

Directed by various Slough Music Service Staff members on a project-by-project basis!

Strings Ensemble:
Tuesdays TIME TBC – Upton Court Grammar School

Open to existing young musicians who play stringed instruments such as Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass.

Explore music of varying genres stemming from classical to modern day.

Sessions run by Rebecca White.


Build-A-Band Music Centre (Britwell):
Thursdays 4:20-5:30pm – Lynch Hill School Primary Academy (Gaveston Road entrance)

Open to strings, woodwind, brass, drumkit, djembe, singers, pianists and guitarists.

A small group of musicians exploring music from pop, rock, jazz and funk settings, learning composition and improvisation skills as well as general musicianship alongside this, led by the students’ individual tastes and needs!

Grade 1-2 standard+ or equivalent (no formal exams need to have been taken).

Sessions run by Ashton Smith and Parminder Grewal.

Early Ears – Music Discovery Centre
Thursdays 3:30-4:10pm – Lynch Hill School Primary Academy (Gaveston Road entrance)

Open to Year R to Year 2 students

Exploration of sound, singing, rhythm, percussion, and early-access musical instruments such as djembe drums, ukuleles and recorders. Expect musical games and more!

Sessions run by Lucy Stoker.


Build-A-Band Music Centre (Iver):
Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm – Iver Village Junior School

NEW! Open to all ages at Primary level and beyond – come and join the band and see how the journey unfolds this year! (£6 per session)

KS1 – 3:30-4:30pm / KS2 – 4:30-5:30pm.

Previous playing experience playing on your instrument is required at beginner level or higher.

Music Technology Centre:
Thursdays 4-6pm – Langley Grammar School

Open to any students in Slough with an interest in Music Technology.

Skills-based sessions in Afro-Beat, Hip-Hop, Trap, Classical, and Contemporary genres, learning how to record, mix, and produce beats and music in a studio.

Sessions run by Karl Drummond.

Slough Youth Soul Choir:
Mondays 5-7pm – The Curve (William Street, Slough)

Open to all 6-16 year olds in Slough with an interest in singing.

Learn songs from a diverse musical pool and gain performance experience to appreciative audiences.

Sessions run by Rebecca Richardson.


Curve Community Choir:
Thursdays 6:30-8pm – Trinity United Reform Church (Windsor Road, Slough)

Adult Community Choir open to anyone aged 16 or over.

Sing a wide variety of genres and take part in performances throughout the year.

Sessions run by Rob Harris

Family Samba Drumming:
Thursday evenings (location TBC)

Open to all! – Starting October 2023!…Watch this space…

An exciting opportunity for family members to make music together. Our instructor will teach samba drumming and marching dsrums as well as mixing in a variety of percussion.
